Winter Speaker Series: Sunken History—Hunting Shipwrecks in the Gulf of Maine

Join us for a night of New England shipwreck stories. The people of Maine and New Hampshire have histories tied to the sea, and making a living at sea can be dangerous. The wrecks of fishing vessels, freighters such as SS William H. Machen, and warships such as USS Eagle 56 lay hidden beneath the waves just off our coast. While some tragedies are well documented, others have questions that can be answered by dedicated technical divers, their cameras, and a passion for history.

About the speaker, Ryan King:
For over 30 years, Ryan has been diving, teaching, and photographing marine life, caves, and wrecks from Canada to the Caribbean. He has a passion for exploration and uses his photography to help connect curious minds with the underwater world. Recently he and the Nomad Exploration team have been searching for and documenting lost shipwrecks of the New England coast.
